Signing Off

Dear FutureAG Readers:

I want to thank Paul, Tory, Brad, Jeff, and Mark for extending to me the invitation to join FutureAG as a blogger. It has been a great pleasure to meet with these men, and I have been honored to post on this blog. They have done a great job with this blog and performed a very valuable service for our fellowship. They have opened discussion on many pertinent issues that our fellowship needs to address if it is to be faithful to Christ's Commission in the 21st Century.

However, the time has come for me to sign off posting for FutureAG. This year, I would like to devote more time to my own blog (AGThinkTank), whose focus is more on pastoral renewal and congregational revival than on denominational reform (although I will take a stab at some of those issues too).

Again, Paul, Tory, Brad, Jeff, and Mark deserve high praise for opening up a forum for discussing the future of our fellowship. And I am thankful that they considered me an ally in the cause.

May God bless you all richly!

George P. Wood

Well George, I have to say I'm sorry to see you leave this blog, but understand that you've only got so much time in the day. Hopefully your decision to no longer post doesn't mean you also won't comment every once in awhile. Thanks for the contributions you've made and the role you've played in bettering the AG.

Best of luck at AGThinkTank!

George - We will miss your wisdom.
And thanks for helping us with our new discipleship blog. We are continuing to receive info that will help GPH better serve our churhes.
Blessings,

George,

Since you are the only who actually posts on here...regularly.

Why don't you get Lane Douglas or Paul F to be able to post...the other original posters do not seem to contribute too much. I am not bashing them...i am sure they have their reasons. But we would like this all to continue...

Wow. George, we will miss you. You carried the ball for the rest of us for several months.

I will try to pick up the slack and keep the discussion rolling.

George - I don't know you, but just wanted to say you've done a good job here. I am but a humble pastor's wife :) who is going to stop visiting here despite my curiosity and leave it to all of you great pastors! :)

Congratulations on the vote.

WWBGD made me laugh! (I know she would only want whatever Jesus wanted!)

Thanks Pastor George for your leadership and courage to put your ideas out there fully knowing the risks.

I look forward to seeing your ministry blog develop. BTW, the original moderators asking you to come onboard was a great decision.

May the Lord bless you, your family, your ministries, and your congregation. Congrats on your re-election. I know the best days are ahead for you and the A/G!

Abe,

the reason someone would post and then resign as a lead blogger is because the purpose is to generate discussion. I don't see the baffling mystery bro

George,
I liked very much your "style". I liked very much your "blog behaviour". I don't know you personally, but I estimate you.

God bless you,
Italian Servant

George -- Wish you well, there are few that can moderate such a blog with grace. You've got more on your plate and I expect you will get busier as your own ministry endeavors continue to thrive.

I'm sure a few of us will find our way to your blog.

To the listed blog contributors --

Perhaps now is a good time to revisit the purpose of the blog. If I recall, (although my memory falters) I originally signed up on an email list well over a year ago that talked about doing creative ministry, hence I received an email when this blog was first established upon the announcement Trask was stepping down.

Quite honestly, the discussions generated by this blog has helped change things. Most of what was proposed has been adopted or steps have been taken that way.

Topics are beginning to cycle again. Big issues continue to need a forum for discussion -- IPE, Eschatology, & other position paper stances. The wiki idea tossed around in December is probably a better vehicle for that.

For those of you that recall, in 1996-98 there was an AG online community on AOL. For those of us that had dial up modems (14.4) and AOL accounts, we chatted and posted in a somewhat similar fashion. Eventually that outlived its purposes and went the way of the dinosaur.

Blessings-

since a hotly discussed topic was pulled from this site does anyone now believe that there is no pressure at all from districts/headquarters to censor thoughts and discussions? Seems mighty fishy to me.

Several weeks ago, I asked the original bloggers why they were no longer posting. They're basic response was that they felt the purpose of this website had been served, and they were returning their focus to their churches. In response, I too decided to sign off and focus on other things than FutureAG. No one from national headquarters or any district or any other organization asked Paul to pull the Jeff Leake's article. I, however, did ask Paul to pull the entire site down, or at least to disable comments. Why? Because if the moderators of the blog are no longer going to participate in the site, it doesn't make sense to leave the site up.

And no, I didn't make this request response to pressure from my dad, which is I'm sure what the conspiratorially minded will think.

Thanks GPW. Hopefully someone else will pick something like this up. Kind of lame and irresponsible however for the originators to just disapear
